Accommodation at the foot of the Vercors

Good morning,
I am Christelle, an architect specializing in HQE (High Environmental Quality) houses. I was lucky enough to be able to design and carry out this project from start to finish.
Our house was built in 2007 after two and a half years of work (much of it self-built). The land was then a walnut field that produced Grenoble walnuts. There are still five of them today, including one on the land.
A cottage in an eco-responsible house
A healthy home:
The house was built with healthy, ecological and breathable materials, mainly earth and untreated wood.
Facing due south, its large bay windows benefit from passive solar heating in addition to an open view of the Vercors.
It is equipped with solar panels which provide hot water and a rainwater collection tank which supplies the toilets, the washing machine and the garden watering system.
A comfortable house in summer and winter:
A Canadian well (natural air conditioning) cools it in the summer. At its heart, a large wood-burning stove and its hypocaust wall heat it in the winter. The envelope (wall and roof) are well insulated, which also helps keep it cool in the summer and heated in the winter.
A unique house:
In 2022, we undertook some work to convert part of it into accommodation so that travelers could benefit from it.
The interior design was done by us, with attention to detail, respecting the spirit of the house and current construction standards. We chose second-hand furniture, which we renovated and/or adapted. We also made most of the decorative elements ourselves (lighting, coffee table, TV and bathroom furniture, wardrobe, painting, photos, sculpture, etc.). This gives it its unique character!
An eco-responsible house in your daily life:
We experienced the accommodation by living there during the winter of 2022 and were able to make the necessary adjustments to make it a pleasant place to live and ensure that you feel good there: "like at home".
Rentals were able to begin in April 2023, via the Airbnb site where we are also still present.
To encourage you in the same eco-responsible spirit, we provide you with organic or local products (soap, cleaning products, cotton linens, kitchen staples). We encourage you to use the various bins for selective sorting and composting of green waste.
The accommodation is also equipped with a water-saving shower, low-energy electrical appliances and low-energy light bulbs.
We are also in the process of implementing an eco-responsible label.
